Eddy Current Testing (ECT): ECT is one of many electromagnetic testing methods used in nondestructive testing (NDT), making use of electromagnetic induction to detect and characterize surface and sub-surface flaws in conductive materials. Instruments were developed measuring conductivity and sorting mixed ferrous components. Eddy Current Testing is now a widely used and well understood inspection technique for flaw detection, as well as thickness and conductivity measurements.
PASI’s Eddy Current capabilities include a “part specific” crack detection automated unit and an automated through coil unit for sorting metallurgical differences in ferrous components that may be caused by, but not limited to, the wrong powder mix, a missed process, and heat treat Case depth variations.
